Who is this qualification for?

This qualification is an introduction to moving and handling activities for those starting work, returning to work or who need specific training in manual handling, as well as being a suitable qualification for refresher training.

Learners gaining this qualification will understand that moving and handling must be carried out correctly and will recognise its importance in ensuring a safer working environment.

How long will it take?

To complete this qualification learners should expect to undertake 7 hours of learning, typically over one day, with a minimum contact time of 6 hours.

The qualification covers the following components:

• Introduction to safe moving and handling
• Potential hazards, injuries and ill health
• Legal duties and responsibilities
• Risk assessments
• Manual handling controls
• Principles of safe movement

Assessment method

Level 2 Safe Moving and Handling is assessed in 2 parts

Multiple-choice examination, in which candidates must demonstrate what they have learned.
Practical assessment, in which participants must show how to apply the knowledge they have gained throughout the course to real-life situations.

Qualification outcome

A certificate will be awarded upon successful completion of the assessment. You will receive a Highfield Level 2 Award in Safe Moving and Handling certificate which is advised to be refreshed after three years.
